ideally he needs a bigger cage. he wants out cuz he's bored. people think 10 gal cages or those other small plastic ones are fine but they aren't. a hamster ball is needed. let him run in it every night for hours while u r up. mine run from the time they get up usually around 8pm til i go to bed. i put her back every hour of course for a water break & she chews when she's ready to run again. chewing is their way of saying "im bored!" they will chew when they want out & stop after they get enough runtime. while it may not stop entirely, it will decrease a lot if they get to use the ball. if u can get the cages with tubes so u can connect 2 cages that works best & will sometimes satisfy them-mostly older ones. 1 cage is just too small. also before u go to bed, hide his food in different spots in the cage rather than in 1 bowl. he'll enjoy the hunt after his run.

u do have a wheel in the cage right?

Here is what worked for us in the past... We added a quiet plastic wheel (no the squeaky metal ones), wooden chew sticks, and grass cubes to the cages. The hamsters have their entertainment, and you have your peace and quiet. Best of luck!

you have to give him other things to chew on. They will chew no matter what.. hamsters are nocturnal creatures, so night is when they are awake, doing their business! They need to chew, because their teeth, like our hair or nails.. are always growing. If they didnt chew, their teeth could grow right out the top of their mouths

Hi
We had to put ours in the bathroom so no one could hear it at night. They have to chew to keep their teeth from getting to long is what the pet store told us.

sadly you really can't, hamsters need to chew to keep their teeth short. try getting more toys and chew sticks for your pet. if the sound is what bothers you try moving him to a different room.

you could either let it out or give it some carrots before you go to bed
