What could it mean when a group of 6 boys and 6 girls stare at you from a ditsance every lunch hour?

Don't worry about them staring at you, they only do it probably cause it bothers you. Go on about your day and ignore them and eventually they'll get bored and bother someone else with low self-esteem.

There are myriad reasons why they might be looking at you (if they are). I would need to know more about you to hazard a guess but here are some possibilities:

1. There is a clock over your head or something else around you that they're staring at (sometimes we take things personally & read too much into things when it's really not the case. Perhaps you're a little paranoid & they're not really staring at you at all).
2. They find you very attractive or interesting (people usually choose to stare at things that are pleasant. Otherwise they would be repulsed and look away.) Perhaps they're jealous of you.
3. You are different. Maybe you have pink hair spiked & 13 nose rings & a tattoo of a walrus on your forehead. I don't know. Or maybe you're just a little bit different or unique in another way. I don't know because you didn't mention it. People tend to be drawn to things that are different. They can't help but stare. It may be rude but it's human nature. If you don't "blend in" then you "stand out." This isn't a bad thing unless you let it get to you. It can be a good thing. It means you're special. Unique. Rock on!
4. They are trying to rattle you. Maybe they are jerks & trying to make you nervous. Kids can be brutal. They always need a scapegoat. If so, don't give in to them. Like dogs, adolescents can sense fear. Be tough. Act like it doesn't bother you. It shouldn't bother you. Who cares what they do? Ignore them. Or even taunt them. Smile at them like you don't give a rat's a$s. Maybe even wave at them playfully. Or itch your cheek with your middle finger. Very subtly tell them F.U. (but don't provoke a fight, it's not worth it!) If you look as though they're hurting your feelings then they're going to keep doing it. If you act as though it doesn't matter then they'll get bored of taunting you & back off.
5. Maybe they have heard something about you (a rumour or truth) that fascinates them & they're either intrigued or scared of you (depending what the rumour is..."I heard he can fly!" "I heard she killed a man once with a banana!")
6. You're overly sensitive & actually they're not staring at you at all. They just happen to glance over once in a while & they're wondering why YOU are staring at THEM. Realistically how would you know that they're looking unless you're looking at them?! You see? It's all a matter of perception & perspective. Maybe they'll write in "We're 6 boys & girls wondering why this person always stares at us on lunch..."

Whatever the case may be, the bottom line is: Don't let it bother you! Nothing is ever as great as you expect or as terrible as you fear. Nothing is the end of the world. OK well maybe if an asteroid strikes & we become extinct like the dinosaurs, but aside from that, none of these things in life that seem so devestating really matter in the grand scope of things. Just let it go. Who cares if they're staring or not? Who cares why? They don't matter! Love yourself & feel confident in yourself. Don't let anyone take that from you. Be strong. No one can knock you down unless you let them.

There's probably a mundane explanation, but whatever it is, it doesn't matter! Don't sweat the small stuff. Trust me, this is small. It just feels big now.

Depending upon their age range and the location of the eating area- I would say that they are thinking A:) You have something wrong with your attire,B) You have toilet paper showing where it shouldn't or C) You will soon be getting married, engaged, or "swooped" after school.
Mostly you could just be the "newbie" and they are trying to figure out where to put you in the pecking order.
On the other hand- like me you could have forgotten to put the sleeping snake around your neck back in his cage before going to eat. LOL

if you're a teacher and a male the boys are gay and the girls think you're cute. reverse it if you are a female teacher.
if you're a student you're screwed either way, male or female.
if they liked you they'd approach you.

I'd walk up to them and say, "What's your damage?" or "Do we have a problem here or are you all catatonic?" "Are you on meds or do you need meds?" or "Am I so fascinating or are you the children of the corn?" "Snap out of it people."
