Oh good Lord that movie was horrifyingly AWFUL. I am ashamed of Nicholas Cage, seriously! It was only given a 3.3 out of 10 on imdb, which is pretty darn bad... so I don't think we are alone in being disappointed in it. Oh well...2 hours lost.
ETA: it is true that there is an "alternate" ending on the other side of the DVD, but it is really just the same ending; the only difference is it is more graphic and you see the things that they did instead of just hearing them. It doesn't add much excitement, just some more eye rolling on my part! :-)

I was very disappointed with it. The trailers made it look good but when I saw it I said to myself and my friends. "The town goes through all that trouble just to sacrifice him to a stupid pagan god". Nicholas Cage is a better actor to be making movies like the Wicker man. Wicker man, you owe me nine dollars and two hours back. Have a Happy New Year!!!

you know, I hardly ever watch a movie and for whatever reason, I got interested in "The Wicker Man", when it was on and could not stop watching it.
It's actually a very good movie in my opinion and Nicholas Cage does a great job in it. The thing that got me and probably a lot of other people was that the ending was so disturbing, so unlike what we hoped would happen to the hero of the story. That's what leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
But in the end, I thought it was an excellent movie.

I just watched it about an hour ago. I saw the reveiws of it on imdb.com and so I started watching it thinking it was gonna blow. But I actually thought it was an ok movie. The ending is what pissed alot of me off I think. I was disappoint with it as well. I really wanted Cage to shoot every one there. Starting with Sister Summerisle and ending with willow.

Oh totally agreeing with you. My roomie and I watched it yesterday night - we thought nicolas cage, must be decent, right? Um, yeah , not so much. We've already returned it, but I heard this morning from somebody that if you watch the DVD on a different side, the ending is different.

nope...but I suggest you see the Korean film Oldboy...before Hollywierd...which bought the rights to Oldboy...remakes it with guess who...that's right...nicholas cage.,..you can'tmakethis stuff up...but you can see the original...before you get bushwacked by the insignificant and rather puerile remake...
Zenobia...the choice is yours...
and don't tell anyone you are going to see it..someone will try to spoil the ending for you...I guarantee it..

All movies in this drama/horror/thriller genre seem to fail.
