There are physical and chemical barriers that protect your body from foreign invaders. The skin is a physical barrier because it simply doesn't allow microbes to pass through to enter the body.
Your pores are the only openings in your skin, with the exception of cuts, and only allow substances, such as salts, to pass outward and OUT of your body.
Just another example of how amazing our bodies function!

The skin acts as a barrier to micobial invasion because it is an intact covering that does not allow bacteria to go through. It is when we get a break in this barrier that we get an infection.

the formation of the skin coz such a way that there arent any openings.. other than that it secretes antimicrobials along with the sweat and oil glands. hence microbes on surface get killed. when certain microbes, which can metabolize these grw, the stink and also cause some infection if there is an opening on the skin

because skin contains sweat glands which secret the sweat which acts as antimicrobial agent due to its high salinity .
skin prevents the entrance of microbes to inside the cells of the body also by its thickness & other secretions like fatty secretions .
but we must say that although the skin is the first defense mechanism against germs of the body but it can't prevent all germs from enter.

Our skin has exits, not entrances. This means you can sweat but the only thing that can enter is something that either does a chemical action or bores thru something like six layers of epidermis. (please don't quote me, I have no idea how thick our skin is, but I do know its more than two layers.) Interestingly dogs pant because thats how they sweat, their fur layer is not attached like our skin is.
