What USDA Zone do you live in?
Are the plants rated for your zone ?
Are the plants that you are growing annuals?
is the pot size you are using enough for the root zone ?
IE a perinnal tomato grows a 3ft di and 3ft deep root If you are trying to grow in a 12" by 12" pot it will die

Pothos and Philodendrons are the easiest plants to grow I use Clay pots so the plants dont stay wet you just have to remember to check the dirt-if its dry water them-if they look a little wilted-water them these plants will bounce back after you water them.Spiderplants are also easy and so are succulents. These plants are pretty hard to kill! Good luck!

ZZ plants are easy to grow. Or a mother in law tongue aka snake plant aka sansaveria.
Sun could be the problem--try using florescent lights or plant lights. I keep my bathroom lights on from morning to night so that my plants get enough light. Water them when they feel dry.

Try spider plants, they're hardy and help clean the air. Heck they grow in office spaces!! Just keep them near some type of light.

I have an aloe plant (hard to kill - unless over watered), plus medicinal values, an airplane plant (easy to maintain) and a bamboo plant.
It depends on your light situation, heat vents, etc.
For starters, give a bamboo plant a shot. You can't hardly kill them, they can take light or little light and like lots of water.
Good luck!

Pothos Ivy. It's very hard to kill, but I've seen it done. Air ferns might be the way to go. However, the absolute best plant is an artificial one when everything else fails.

try the ivy, can be grown in water and will thrive. Invest in plant lite. Comes in regular shape lite bulbs, so you can replace in existing lamp. This is also good for you especially in winter days you will get much need sunlight. (artifical but sunlight anyway.)

The philodendron is probably the hardest plant to kill, you can ignore them forever and the still live.
