I currently have Comcast High Speed Internet. But Verizon DSL just came out for my area (brand new community) and I can get the DSL for my townhouse. I pay $42.95/month right now for Comcast's internet and I am not impressed. I am constantly having problems with it and they can never help me fix them. With Verizon DSL, I can get more than 3.0Mpbs in speeds and its only 29.99/month. I have DSL in Hilton Head, SC and it is alot faster than a cable modem.
What do you think the better deal is? I can't keep having service people from Comcast come out and fix this when DSL, I rarely have a problem with it. I am a college student so if this helps any, please include that!

Well - since I hate Comcast (terrible customer service, and less than honest about their internet speeds)... I would switch to Verizon.
Try to get the best deal - act reluctant and see if you can get a discount...
I've generally had good service from Verizon as a cell customer... but for an ISP I invariably suggest Earthlink.
Regardless, you're getting reamed by Comcast - I'd switch.

It depends only on the company in the area. comcast in one place is much different from Comcast in another, and same with any phone service. If you have unreliable cable then you are probably better off with DSL. Cable is faster, but the service depends on the quality of the system in your area. Unless there's been a major rebuild of the cable system in your area in the last few years they are probably using some out of date technology which will limit their capacity and this will greatly reduce the quality of the cable service.

The difference between the two is that cable is supposed to be faster. So if this is not a concern go for the dsl with the better price. Peace!

I have Verizon DSL and have never had any problems. But I agree that sometimes it all depends on your location!

go with comcast,it's faster then verizon,worth the extra ten dollars a month after your grace period,what city you live in I pay 52.00 a month for my comcast
