In order to distract the visiting team, college basketball fans (Duke especially) normally make lots of noise when the visiting team has the ball. However, even more distracting is SILENCE, followed by a loud noise (just ask Tiger Woods). So, why not get real quiet and then YELL when they shoot the ball? Obviously this would require some planning, such as passing around flyers with instructions, but shouldn't be that hard to pull off.

Hard to pull off once fans get emotional... And what happens when all the idiot fans fall for every single boringly obvious pump fake. It would be a better idea to save that for the very end when the other team is trying to make the game winning shot when they aren't expecting it. Also, the fans would have to do it on their own or else it would be an NCAA Violation.

We do all the time in jr high and high school basketball games and it is really cool until the other team fans gain on what you're doing and they start doing when you shoot the ball. but it is just common sense but with like finals and big tounaments everybody in the stands now that are team does it. It is easy to pull off i hope this helps you out!!!!

They dont do it to distract them, they do it so they have a hard time hearing what the coaches are saying, and when their teammates call out screens and such.

I think it would be hard to pull of, coordinating thousands of fans like that. You could maybe get a lot of them to do it at first, but once the game gets underway, things can get emotional quickly for the fans and they get pumped up, making that sort of thing impossible to maintain for long.

There's always gonna be some drunk idiot at the game who would ruin it anyway. Good idea though.
