I use a Tarus 44-Mag as my personal weapon. It is magna-ported and fires fine at the 100-yard range! When I backpack into the wilderness, I substitute my S&W Stainless model 629 for the Longer Barel. That way I do not have to take my rifle.
For long range I use my Sniper Rifle, a 223 which is just fine for the 200-yard plus range.
At work I can only carry my 38-Special or a 9MM Auto.
Why do you ask? Perhaps if you are considering a weapon, you should ask yourself several questions?
1. Am I mature enough to carry such a weapon, with a State Concealed Weapons Permit?
2. Why do I feel the need to carry a weapon?
3. Am I willing to 'take a life' to protect myself or others?
4. Do I have any Special Training, military or civilian that would give me the skills for such a carry.
5. There are restrictions on civilians carrying a personal weapon into schools, shopping centers and etc.
FYI, in the states where civilians are permitted to have a 'concealed weapon permit' the crime rate is Much LOWER! The criminals Understand that some carry!

My all time favorite [if I can only have one gun] would be the Colt Mk IV Series '70 Government semi auto pistol in .45 ACP caliber. My second choice, which I also treasure and think very highly of, is the full size Glock Model 22 in .40 S&W caliber. If you are interested in purchasing a handgun, you cannot go wrong with either of these two choices.

My favorite gun is id say a Machine gun and a Shotgun. Unlike most other guns a machine gun is fast and powerful. A shot gun its just like a knock out gun 1 shot kills a person
