I'm 37 weeks pregnant... and a couple of weeks ago, failed my glucose screening. I had taken the same screening at around 18 weeks and passed it then, but have seemed to develop it now. I'm going to be induced in 9 days... but am stir crazy about what to eat. I've been monitoring my blood sugar for the past 2 weeks... and for the most part have maintained it under 120. I've had a few readings between 125 - 169, and am trying to maintain a better diet. Considering it's so late in the pregnancy, I've tried to adjust my diet without having to see a nutritionist. My endocronologist seems to think I'm doing okay on my own... but I'm craving food all the time. I've never in my life had to watch what I eat... and these last 9 days before giving birth feel like a life sentence. I'm sick of eating carrot sticks and celery. Anyone have a similar experience and what foods were satisfying for you without setting bells off?

You can eat meats, and things with high protien. A lot of carbs will result in high blood surgar levels, as carbs are broken down directly into sugars and then digested as such.
Things like whole grains are excellent for you.
Also, gluton free things are often quite good for the diabetic, as the whole complex whole grains provide more protien and less starch, which helps balance it out.
Splenda can be your best friend, and its fun to bake with. There are also tons of sugar free sweets out there, and a lot of them dont taste half bad.
jello makes a sugar free cheese cake mix, and its excellent. Cant tell the difference between it and a regular mix. There are also sugar free brownie mixes, and sugar free chocolates. Sugar free ice cream. When it comes to sweets you really do have a wide variety. Walmart sells a lot of those things.
Meats, whole grains, low sugar fruits in moderation. avoid things like noodles and potatos, or white breads and baked goods. ESPECIALLY foods that come wrapped in plastic, or in boxes. Those things like snack crackers, or hamburger helper are loaded with starch, and right now, starch is just as bad as sugar. It'll build up in your body and make you sick.
Its only 9 days. You really will make it. And then your body will level back off :)

I am diabetic & pregnant so I have to watch what I eat regardless of the pregnancy. I feel the same though because I crave a lot of fried foods & fatty foods, but kept with my diet. I ate lots of hard boiled eggs or scrambled eggs with one piece of toast. I also liked popcorn as a substitute snack. Graham Crackers with Peanut Butter was a good one too. Cheese with some crackers(it's all in the portions) I also changed it up when I wanted something sweet like an Apple or an Orange, I found Banana's always brought my sugars higher (which I don't know why, you would think the apple would be more) BIG SALADS are GREAT! Like boneless chicken breast cut up and put into a salad with tomatoes, cheese, etc. yum. There's lots of alternatives, just think "I'm full & this is yummy food" all the time. It helps. It really is a mental thing when it comes to food!

I totally understand what you're going through. I had gestational diabetes, too. I found raw spinach to be a huge help. It really filled me up and I could eat so much. Popcorn was the other food I could eat a ton of without my numbers shooting up. Try to eat protein before going to bed - I would have a hardboiled egg. It helped with the hungries at night. Best of luck to you. I went into labor before my due date . . . maybe the baby will come soon and be healthy.

Well
I read this e-book developed by natural health specialist, speaker, and writer Matt Traverso http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=549
. It asserts that you could reverse the source of diabetes in as short as 3 weeks. Even though I'm not a physicians or a scientist I don't think that diabetes can be reversed... unfortunately it's chronic disease as far as I know. That said I found this book very interesting and it gave me a different perspective on diabetes, causes and cures. I think it's worth buying it.
I hope it helps

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes. And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you. Visit here : https://tinyurl.im/aH1Sa to find out what all the fuss is about.
