because it is so much esier to cope than trying to stay up with what is really going on around you at any one given time it is much easier to just follow some myth or doctrine that way when things fail you can blame them for your problems the eagles tell it well in "hell freezes over",... " we are like sheep without a shepard, we don't no how to be alone, so we wonder around the desert and end up following the wrong dogs home"..... go figure ... but most people prefer to be under the influence of someone or something else rather than be here now..........stay cool and watch out for the high and inside ones,.... they want your brain

Because they haven't been. You have been reading to much of that post-modern nonsense that posits inauthentic preferences and " hidden meanings " in text. Humans act as if they have evolved by natural selection and instituted a framework of social interaction. I suggest you clean those glasses you are looking through darkly.

Don't feel bad. It's called acculturation and socialization, a necessary evil for most people and for the preservation of an orderly, mutually assisted society. Those who don't fall into that category sometimes become an enormous help to society by moving it ahead with creative thought, or hinder it by committing crimes. I like to think that our useful misfits constitute more than 50% of the total count, do way more than 50% of the heavy lifting, and are absolutely essential for our survival.

Because it's easier to say what people want to hear and go along with the crowd.
That way you don't have to think and you don't put yourself in a place where people look at you as "different".
