This is Spinal Tap is a hilarious spoof off of the whole metal rock genre. Tommy was The Who's classic rock opera. Rock Star was an alright movie. School of Rock and Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny are comedies starring Jack Black. Decline of the Western Civilization and Woodstock are two good documentaries. Hysteria, The Def Leppard Story is pretty recent. Of course the classic rock comedy, Wayne's World & Wayne's World 2 are full of rock stars. Little known fact-Johnny Depp's character Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Carribean series was very much based on world renowned rock star Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. He is even said to have a cameo in the third film. That Thing You Do starring Tom Hanks is fairly decent. If you want movies with good rock n' roll soundtracks try:
Top Gun
Lords of Dogtown
Knight's Tale
Not mention all the Elvis Presley movies.

1) Hedwig and the Angry Inch
2) Velvet Goldmine
3) The Doors
4) Last Days
5) This Is Spinal Tap
6) Wayne's World I and II
7) Rock Star
8) Almost Famous
9) Sid and Nancy
10) Josie and the Pussycats (possibly)
11) That Thing You Do
12) The Temptations
13) Airheads
14) Hard Core Logo
15) La Bamba
16) American Pop
17) Slash
18) Masked and Anonymous
19) The Buddy Holly Story
20) Backbeat

Those are some that I can find, spanning from hardcore heavy metal to the very lighter stuff that's practically pop. They are all, of course, fictionalized- from fake rockumentaries to just good dramas or comedies, but they all fit the bill. If you were looking for actual concerts or real documentaries, there are just too many to mention- you'd need to look them up on your own (easy to find, though).

Enjoy!

The Decline of Western Civilization. Pts 1 & 2 & 3

Gimme Shelter

For a great Rock Movie (although I am not religious) I think the greatest one yet is Jesus Christ Superstar.

Also not to be missed are Quadrophenia, Tommy, This Is Spinal Tap, and of course the all time midnight movie classic Rocky Horror Picture Show.

that's more desirable of a documentary yet ''Heavy metallic in Baghdad'' became brilliant. Oh I actually have considered college of Rock i love it regardless of the indisputable fact that it's not a movie i in my opinion would opt for to observe more desirable than 3 or 4 circumstances. and that i have considered between the %. of destiny action pictures yet i do not imagine it became Detroit Rock city.
