Im going to try and answer this in the spirit (do you see what I did there?) it was intended. - The scariest film - close one between any of the Omen trilogy and Amityville 2 (much scarier than 1 IMHO).

If you mean worst as in worst made - please check "Bram Stokers Way of the Vampire" - dire!!

I realise I have only mentioned films here - although my brother once told me a ghost story set in my hometown here in UK (of course) that kept me awake that night. I may put this on my blog if public demand is high enough ;-)

Of course no horror film can compare with the horrors we humans inflict on each other everyday :-(

Tada

OK, as far as the worst storytelling, it would have to be anything by the Hack of the year, decade, He11 eon; Stephen King, Formula writing anyone?
But on the same hand the scariest Ive ever read is "The Stand" by Stephen King.

Oh and the Bible is terrible in the story telling sense also.
