In YOUR lifetime!

I remember quite clearly hearing these words:

Accordingly, I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President.

But let men everywhere know, however, that a strong, a confident, and a vigilant America stands ready tonight to seek an honorable peace--and stands ready tonight to defend an honored cause--whatever the price, whatever the burden, whatever the sacrifice that duty may require.

Thank you for listening.

Good night and God bless all of you.

I don't know if that was the live event or a replay.

Wow. I'm surprised at how many have said Ronnie Raygun.

He was governor here in California during my childhood.

I remember the Kennedy-Nixon debate/election. I knew Ike was the pres. but I didn't much care. Thank goodness for the Level 7's here. They almost make a man feel young again. LOL.

Ronald Reagan was the first President that I can remember. I was born in 1975, which was when Ford was in office, and lived through Carter's term in office, but I was too young at the time to know about either man, and I don't remember either man as President.

Looks like, so far, I'm the middle child here: I first remember Reagan. I'm a Carter baby, but was too young to remember him at the time. when I was young, I thought Ronald McDonald was President! When I would go to McDonalds, I would salute the statue sitting on the bench out front:)

Truman My first memory of him was when he dropped the atomic bombs on Japan. Later when he was campaigning in 1948 he came to the small town I lived in. He gave me a flower in a photo opp. with children.
