its just a trivia question i think but i can't think of the answer.

Neither one. Peacocks don't lay eggs because they are male. It would have to be a peahen, the female of the species, who would lay the egg.

If Mr. Smith's peacock laid an egg anywhere, Mr. Smith would probably become a very wealthy man. At least he would make Ripley's Believe It or Not! or The Guinness Book of World Records.
A peacock is male. You need a peahen for any egg laying! (And she doesn't need the peacock for assistance or inspiration. Just ask any battery chicken!)

Since the peacock is Mr. Smith then the egg belongs to Mr. Smith regardless where the peacock laid the egg.

It depends, if the egg is left in the yard of Mr. Jones then its Mr. Jones' But if the egg was with the peacock, then Mr. Smith owns it.

Peacocks can't lay eggs. Better destroy it, it might hatch into a peacockatrice and start killing people with its deadly eyes!
