It's way too early to tell. 95% of rookie quarterbacks are playing pretty poor football compared to the rest of the league, and hopefully the rest of their careers.

I mean who would have thought Elway would become what he was with a first year like this.
Year Age Team League GP Att Cmp Yrd YPA TD INT SKD SKY RAT
1983 23 DEN NFL 11 259 123 1663 6.42 7 14 28 218 54.9

I bet the same questions were being asked back then. Football is far from an exact science when predicting futures.

Too early to tell. The history of the NFL has taught us that. QB's have come into the NFL played for a great team, that complimented them, and as soon as they lose a few good players, their true colors shine through. Jake Plummer, on the other hand played for a horrible team before Denver, and looked good doin' it. I don't think we've seen the last of Plummer. He'll go somewhere else, and earn the respect he deserves.

Don't pressure the poor kid...

Actually, I think Cutler has a lot of talent, but I wouldn't go to that comparison just yet. Give him a couple more years of seasoning, and then you can decide. I predict he will struggle next year once the Defenses catch on to his skills.

that's jumping to conclusions, let's see how he does after a full season in the nfl before saying he's the next elway, but if you want my opinion, no he won't be

I wouldn't go that far. He is a rookie. Any QB who plays for Denver is in Elway's shadow.
