I really like some of the movies, such as Irreversible.

I haven't watched a lot of French films since I quit taking French in High School. The last French movie I watched was "L'enfant" and it was pretty good. My boyfriend does not want to believe that there's a black market in France where you can sell a baby! I thought it was very deep and interesting. I finally watched "Amelie" like seven months ago and cried my eyes out, so that was good. the one before that was another organ black market movie and I think it was called "Dirty Pretty Things". I recommend non-American movies because they tend to go where American movies don't and are more realistic than the crap we watch here most of the time.

During sixties it reached its greatest level with Nouvelle Vague (godard, chabrol, malle, rohmer , truffaut).
Now we can talk about a new kind of Nouvelle Vague but less suprising. The only interesting example of new French cinema in my opinion has been given by Mathieu Kassovitz with "the haste".
Now he's directing new movies in the USA.
Thanks for your question.
Sorry for my typing mystakes.
I'm Italian.
Bye!
