Is College Football really goofy?

Question

First, they determine who plays in their championship game by some weird formula.

Second, all the major programs pad their wins by putting 2 or 3 super soft games on their schedule (example: Ohio State plays Northern Illinois and Bowling Green this year).

Third, lots of crazy stuff happens in the bowl games because the teams don't play a game for a whole month and they are totally rusty.

Is it just me, or is college football really goofy?

Granted, college football has a far from perfect system. I'll take the bowl season any way they want to serve it over march madness! Hands down football, is a better game all around.

1) College football is WAYYY better than pros but there championship format is totally bunk
2)a) N. Illinois was a bowl bound team and had a borderline heisman player on their roster in Garrett Wolfe.
2)b) Playing those "soft" games actually helps the smaller programs because they get half the gate receipts from OSU's 100,000 person stadium. (which is probably the only reason they decide to play teams like OSU)
3) Yah it is a bit of a long layoff

To recap: The end of the season is goofy (ie bowl games and championship)

All those things result from a lack of a playoff system! Gotta play pansies because one loss can ruin your BCS rankings.
