Guttenberg man faces homicide charge

Curtis Pierce, 44, of Guttenberg, has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the Christmas night death of Terri Petit, 32, of Guttenberg.
Petit's body was found along Highway 52, just south of Guttenberg, after 11 p.m. Monday, according to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Robert Hamann said investigators believe that Petit was intentionally struck by the vehicle that killed her.
Hamann said an autopsy was being performed Tuesday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Des Moines.The results should help investigators understand what time the fatal incident occurred, Hamann said.
Asked if Pierce and Petit knew each other, Hamann declined to comment. Pierce remained in the Clayton County Jail today, he said.
