Interestingly enough, outlawing gay marriage creates a legal loophole which allows poligamy. I'm legally partnered here in the UK but because the partnership is not recognized in the U.S., there is nothing legally stopping him from marrying a woman in the United States. Therefor he could be married and partnered at the same time.

Hardly ethical but who said the United States is about ethics! They will gladly reward sham marriages and punish genuine partnerships because they are so homophobic. Dumb bunnies.

Gay people make the same life long commitment to their partner that straight people do when they get married. Poligamy is a completely different ball game.

lol simple answer...no; gay marriage has nothing to do with polygamy. The reason a higher percentage of gays have multiple partners than str8s is because (1) in 45 states and all but 5 countries they cant marry and this makes it easier for them to break up without the hassles of divorce. (if str8s didnt have to worry about custody and wealth-splitting, you can bet they'd date before a divorce was finalized as well) and (2) religion shuns gays, so the gays dont have nearly as high of a percentage of people who only date one person at a time due to religion. If gays were allowed to marry and accepted by religion, the percentage would be the exact same as str8s on multiple partners. So polygamy will not be accepted after gay marriage is allowed.

In my opinion I think poligamy is wrong, however poligamy and polyamory are two seperate things, as well as gay marriage.

On a societal relationship level, perhaps more people will be more open to polyamoury. Actual legalization though? Not so much. And I think that's as it should be, for the simple fact of legal simplicity. Marriage gives the law ONE person to go to when something happens to the other one. ONE person makes decisions, ONE person inherits things when dead...etc. There would be no point in legalizing polygamy because that simplicity would be taken away: person A might want person B to be the primary, and person C might want person B....it would be too much to keep track of, and it would make more sense in that case for all of them to take care of that seperately. What they SHOULD allow, perhaps, is for one married couple to adopt adults legally.

I doubt it.
gay marriage stil represents the dulogy concept most of the world has been raised with.

however, religions that practice/have been stopped from practicing polygamy may say that jedao-christian beliefs stopped the legalzation of gay marriage, so religion must be a factor in laws. thus mormons, muslims, ect should be able to marry more than one person.

why would you think that one thing automatically leads to another? This is not a slippery slope issue. The same sex marriage issue is not about changing anything except allowing 2 people who are not related to get married. It's not that difficult as it seems. It's all this smoke screen, non-issues which detract from the real issue, which is discrimination against a group of people for no good reason. Think about it for yourself and if you can't then keep your mouth shut if you have nothing valid to contribute

All these gay marriage supporters say they same thing: Marriage is meant for TWO PEOPLE who love each other.

They say polygamy is wrong. Why do they get to say that three people can't marry each other? After all, marriage is meant for A MAN AND A WOMAN. Not just TWO PEOPLE.

So why do they get to try and change the definition for themselves, and yet can't accept the thought of polygamy?

No to poligamy. That has nothing to do with gay marriage.

I don't think that will ever happen - but I see something happening before gay marriage is accepted.
Marriage to dogs. So many people love their dogs so much, I can see some crazy people legally binding their dogs to themselves and forming a conjugal union - if they aren't already. Yeah people can be that sick.
