The Red Cow
"Doc,come quick!! Miss Kitty just hit the Marshal with a frying pan." Festus scowled in one eyed fashion. His manner appeared urgent and hurried.
"Festus...I wish to God you knew what you were talking about!" Doc grumbled in disbelief. He scuttered into the Longbranch to examine Matt. After a thorough examination, Doc rubbed his intelligent chin and leaned in close to the Marshall and asked, " Just why is Sunshine looking at you that way, Matt? "
Miss Kitty's face was flushed. " Okay,sister ..you and me...OUTSIDE! NOW! " she glared at Sunshine.
Matt rubbed his dizzy head and turned to Doc. "How in the world did that cow get inside the Longbranch? And what is it doing with Kitty's red hair and voice? "
Miss Kitty gasped as her cheek coloring deepened. Slowly, Doc shook his skeptical white head. He looked from Miss Kitty to Miss Sunshine whom lovingly gazed upon the Marshall and whispered, "You are so handsome I could spit."

Matt and Festus rounded the corner of the bin and saw the ole Sunshine the gold miners dog sitting in the trail. Sunshine jumped up and ran over to them. "Just why is Sunshine looking at you that way Matt" Festus ask. They sat atop their horse and Sunshine started running away and then would come back. Festus remarked that he though the dog wanted them to follow her. "Festus... I wish to God you knew what you were talking about" but they headed up the trail after the dog anyways. When the dog came to his owners camp Matt and Festus dismounted and found Miss Kitty sitting by the fire with the old gold miner.
The old gold miner was happy to see Matt and Festus and invited them to stay for a fish fry. Miss Kitty picked up the frying pan and turned but accidental hit Matt with it and down he went out cold. Festus volunteered to go get the doc and off in rode. Luckily he spoted the doctor down by the river bed and shouted "Doc, come quick! Miss Kitty just hit the Marshal with a frying pan".
As the galloped back to the old gold miners camp they noticed several ranches. One was the the Lazy Seven and the other was the Longbranch. Festus noticed one of the Lazy seven's cows in the Longbranch range and wondered how in the world did that cow get inside the Longbranch. He decided that this issue could wait for later as now he had to get help to Matt.
They finally arrived back at the old gold miners camp but Matt was not laying on the ground as he had been left. Instead, they found him inside the tent and he was slowly coming to. Finding out that Miss Kitty had moved Matt cause the Doc to get angry. "Okay, sister... you and me... OUTSIDE! NOW!" he shouted, but of course Miss Kitty ignored him. By now, Matt was sitting upright and rubbing his head. Miss Kitty was happy to see Matt was recovering. In her relief, she said softly, "you are so handsome I could spit". Little did she know that Matt heard her!

Festus and the Marshall was having a discussion and Festus pops up with "Just why is Sunshine looking at you that way, Matt?.
Matt looks at him strangely(Festus is rather odd) and replies "Festus..I wish to God you knew what you were talking about, she is not looking at me in any way."
Festus just shrugs his shoulders and tells Matt he better open his eyes or see an eye doctor, cause he is blind.
Festus is just about to leave, when Miss Kiity walks over to Matt and starts yelling at him and then hits him with a frying pan. Festus runs over to Doc Adams office and yells "Doc, come quick!! Miss Kitty just hit the MArsahll with a frying pan."
Doc says, "Now why in the heck would she do something like that?"
Festus informs him that Miss Sunshine has been making eyes at the Marshall and he was just smiling, lustily back at her and Miss Kitty caught him.
As they are walking in the saloon doc about gets run over by a cow and screams, "How in the world did that cow get inside the Longbranch."
No one answers.
Finally Matt looks at Miss Kitty and states, "Okay, sister... you and me... OUTSIDE! NOW!"
Miss Kitty looks up at him and sarcasticly says, " You are so handsome I could spit."
They go outside and Matt tells MIss Kitty that he was only being friendly to Miss Sunshine and that she was the only one for him. Then he puts his arms around her and says "lets go to your room. "
Miss Kitty informs his that he has a job to do and so does she, that the playing around will have to wait until later.
Just as Miss Kitty walks back into the Longbranch, she sees Miss Sunshine running across the street to her own room, in tears. She had heard what Matt had said to Miss Kitty and it broke her heart. No one could ever love Marshall Dillon like Miss Sunshine, if only he would let her prove it to him.
