I have widows xp sp-2 on my laptop.Whenever i attach any new usb flash drive , it ask to install it. However after first installation , it does not require to install again after reconnect.While on my other office coputers , it do not require to install the device and straight away it starts to use the device.Also the same usb device , if i connect to some other usb port , it asks to install again.After installation , the device works fine.I want that i sould not require to install any new usb flash drive , wehn i connect to my laptop

Un-install XP sp2 then install the USB drive. Then re-install SP2.

You might look for the website of your USB drive manufacturer, and see if they have any drivers available for it, or perhaps contact their support department.

I've never had a problem like that with mine, but I have heard of such things. Good luck in finding a solution!

Maybe Ur laptop doesn't support plug-and-play.
