You'll first need to read the little information pamphlet that comes with a box of tampons.

If you're new to this and want to try tampons my suggestion is to use the tampons with an applicator. You'll probably fair better with an applicator that is plastic. You'll also want to look for junior tampons as those are reccomended for first time tampon wearers.

If you don't understand the instructions in a tampon box I can simplify
First take down your pants and panties and spread your legs almost as if you were going to get on a horse. You can spread them apart if you are sitting on a toilet seat or you can try standing if that is more comfortalb

Second you're going to need to put the tampon and applicator about midway into your vagina until half of the aplicator is in. With one hand push on the long thin tube of the applicator until the tampon is secure then pull out the entire applicator (you don't want to leave this inside of you EVER)

That's all you need to do. Trash the applicator of course, wash your hands and you are done. If the tampon feels uncomfortable you have done it wrong.

You may have to ask your mom, older sister or girlfriend to give you better instructions. They probably won't show you as that is a little weird but they might be able to demonstrate without actually being naked.

Never leave a tampon in for more than 4 hours and if you urinate before the 4 hours it is well advised that you pull on the string and take the tampon out as the urine tends to splash on the string and it could enter your vaginal urethra. You may end up with a UTI so its for your own best.

Honey, you don't put on tampons, you put in tampons. There is an instruction sheet inside the box of tampons. Read very carefully and make sure you have the right size. I would recommend starting with a small size.
Congrats.

there is an insert in a box of tampons that shows you how to do it. I think by the three questions that you have been asking today on yahoo answers that you need to sit down with your mom and ask her all these things. ITs not weird and if your mom doesn't want to discuss it then talk to your doctor.

A tampon is designed to be inserted into a woman's vagina during her menstrual period to absorb the flow of blood.

The tampon itself rests inside the bigger tube, near the open end. The narrower tube is nested inside the other end of the bigger tube. The open end of the bigger tube is placed and held in the vagina, then the narrower tube is pushed into the bigger tube (typically using a finger) pushing the tampon through and into the vagina. If not inserted at a 45 degree angle it can cause discomfort and make removal difficult.

read the leaflet that comes in the box and give yourself time the first few times you use them. If they feel uncomfortable take it out and start again with a new one. it might take a few goes to get it right the first few times
