Please NO Sportscars for teens!

Instead, go with:

Ford Focus, Honda Civic.

Teens have a need for speed that needs to be tamed with low HP, low output (a.k.a. weak) 4 cylinder engines.

My first car was a 1984 Ford Ranger 2.8L V6, 2WD. Had plenty of power for towing, and yet was easy on gas. Look for something economical. Kids don't need a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. A little pickup, or a midsize car would be best. Nothing sporty (insurance through the roof-teen driver, tickets, trouble, injuries, accidents, deaths) I live in Idaho and have seen many teens injured or killed driving sports cars, its not pretty.

.I have two teenagers....for them a slow moving tank would be nice..but since they are not available....I wouldn't go for anything fast of flashy....just something that will get them there and back with no problems....maybe one of the small sized trucks with a four cylinder engine....they sit a little higher ..they are a little bigger and they generally won't fly like a bat out of______.

...kids don't always use the best judgment ....we came upon a wreck on Christmas eve... two young girls had hit a bank...they were not hurt.. thankfully..but they wonder why the car hydroplaned.. the roads was dry as a bone...and it was in a turn....

One that YOU can purchase yourself with money YOU earned. You will take care of it better if you are the one who worked for it rather than your parents buying you one.
