The Sims 2 University, Nightlife and Holiday Stuff packs all have the same installation error. The setup gets almost to the end then it asks for The Sims 2 CD4. I don't HAVE 4 Sims CDs, I have 1 original DVD which it won't accept. I have tried EVERYTHING: a manual installation, switching off all anti-virus/spyware/firewall programs in case of interference; downloading the latest patch for Sims DVD - as recommended by EA when I phoned them: (the patch won't install because it ALSO asks for the Sims 2 CD4 even though it's the patch for Sims 2 DVD version); searching for relevant info at the Sims 2 website and the Maxis website - nothing; asking on here! So I'm asking again. Has anyone else encountered the same phenomenon? Anyone have any ideas? I'm pulling my hair out!

I have the original PC-DVD version of the game. I bought the expansions from Amazon and they are also genuine.

For GOD's SAKE! Would someone please LISTEN to me! I have a proper off the shelf bonafide GENUINE copy of the Sims 2 on DVD. Not the CD version - the DVD version! And yes it does exist - look on the EA website!

And everything, including the expansion sets are absolutely 100% genuine CDs! Please people!!!!!

i had the same problem
Did you install the Sims 2 with CDs? You know, if you installed it using the CDs, it will ask you to put the CD4, if you installed it using the DVD it will ask you to put the DVD. Pretty simple, eh !:)
Now the only way to solve the problem is to unistall and then install the Sims 2 (DVD). Then you should have no errors.

well thats cuz u need sims 2, sims 2 comes with 4 cd's ussually. In order to play expansion u need the original sims, not a dvd. Unless the dvd has sims 2 that u can play using that disc, u need sims 2.

Your DVD drive is dirty. One of the first signs is that is stops reading a DVD but will still read a CD. Pick up a can of air and a laser lens cleaner. Open the drive, blow it out with the air can then run the laser lens cleaner through it three or four times. Good luck.
