The vows say, "Until death do we part!". So, in death of a spouse, you are no longer married to them.

If you said forever, it would mean you are still married after death, as forever. Most marriage vows are until death do us part. Then you would be widowed. I have never heard of forever vows? Since there is no need to be married in heaven, I see no reason for a forever vow.

Like everyone else said, in the marriage vows, "til death do you part..."
My father passed away a year ago. My mom is now a widow, meaning, she has a deceased spouse=no longer married.

In your heart you may be, but in our world, since marriage is a man made thing made up basically for legal purposes, it ends when your spouse dies. Even if you find them in the next life, you'll have to get married all over again. :)

Legally, you're single. My husband died just over 2 months ago, and his death certificate says "Place marriage ended" for the city of death. However I still consider us married, and I will probably for forever call him my husband. He was my husband when he died, and just because he died, doesn't mean that that love is gone. If he were here, he'd still love me, and I'll always love him. But legally, like I said, you're single.

The traditional vows are "til death us do part". If after your spouse has passed away, you feel as though you should be married again, there isn't any reason not to be.

Your no longer married once your children turn 18, and your wife gets a decent job. Marriage isn't real, animals don't sign contracts of emotional and financial support.

You are not legally married to the one who died. But in your heart you will always be married.

NO, the vows (or most of them anyway) say TIL death do us part.
ALot of widows and widowers still wear a wedding ring as a sign of love and respect.
So socially, I wouild think that it is okay to think of yourself either way.
But legally and biblically, you are not!
