What is wrong with this answer. The 70's were a terrible time in U.S.A. history.Nixon promised to get us out of Vietnam but it took him 3 more years.Plus he went into Cambodia and Laos to try to stop the Viet Cong getting supplies down the Ho Chi Ming trail, which went thru these 2 countries. Plus remember 4 dead in Ohio. 4 Kent State college students were killed by Ohio Militia Reserves, for protesting the Vietnam conflict,
without any weapons.Just a peaceful demonstration.
I served in Vietnam.I lost half of my classmates from
Vietnam and the rest are dying of Agent Orange. It is very
hard to discuss these violations. But if President Ford
had not given President Nixon a presidental pardon ,who knows what would have happen to the U.S.A.

It's more than fair. He did what he had to do to help this country do some major healing.

As far as his wife goes, calling her a pill popper and a lush just shows how ignorant you are. She was in pain and suffered from breast cancer among other things.

She also founded the Betty Ford Treatment Center to help others in her shoes.

Big deal, we don't get mail for three days. I'll survive and so will you and everyone else.

Try showing respect.

No, it is not right that the mail will not run on Tuesday. Especially after there will be no mail on Sunday or Monday.

In fact, the entire federal government is shutting down on Tuesday, not just the mail.

This is America, and people who are elected to public offices, even presidents, are public servants.

All respect to Gerald Ford, but he was a public servant. We should not shut down our entire government because a former public servant has passed away.

I agree with you. I want my mail.

Does this mean my rent will be late!!! OMG!
Seriously, I think its fine to give the pres a tribute but can't we find something more suitable than closing the post office? Every ‘holiday’ turns into an excuse to shop; now we're going to have another one.

I hope that the mail you are waiting for arrives o.k. for you but
Ford was a decent guy.Never mind he didn't get re-elected being
decent is far more important.

There will be no mail, and you are ignorant to say there should be. You should at least attempt to understand the ceremony and rites which will be carried out on Tuesday.

At least Ford had a big one to bite. What will you have and who will care?

Standard Protocol for death of a President! How old are you that you haven't remembered this in the past? Reagan hasn't been dead that long right?

Yeah, just great. Next week we have to go three days in a row without mail, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Isn't there some kind of law against that?

Seems like a fitting way to commemorate one of the most ineffective presidents in U.S. history - by failing to provide an important service for a day.
