What really happens during a bikini wax?!?

cost depends on where you go.. it could be as cheap as $20-40 (if you go to one of those skeezy strip mall places.. or a nail studio who also does waxing).. or as expensive as $200-400 if you go to a salon/spa. What happens also depends on the kind of wax they use and the type of estabolishment you go to.. I pay to go to a spa to have it done, because I have heard horror stories of burns and skin being permanently damaged at lower quality places. They use warm wax (its called hot.. but its not "hot") they put on the strips.. they pull, and tada.. hairless. The place I go is a spa, so before hand they have you soak in one of the hydrotherapy tubs if you want to open up your hair folicles. They put on a numbing cream as well. They do the wax.. then they use a cream that removes any residue and helps stop ingrown hairs. They always instruct me to exfoliate with a salycaic acid wash for the next few days to avoid ingrowns, and to use baby lotion if i need to put lotion on it. Nothing with scent or dyes! It takes about 20-30 minutes for the actual wax, depending on how careful and gentle they are.

It costs about $20 around here. It's really not that bad. They apply warm wax to the area you wish to be hair-free and then they apply strips of cloth to the wax. They rub it kind of hard to get the wax hardened around the hair and then they hold your skin taught and pull the strips off quickly. It feels like a slight sting. But, boy you'll be smoooooth! The actual procedure last for about 15 minutes. It's so nice afterward. It's better if you do it yourself though. That way you control the exact area that it waxed and your own level of discomfort.
