I need some things to do to train for track. This is my first year doing it, but I know this season I will be a sprinter and maybe a jumper. I'm not sure about next seasson, since this is my first year. Thanks!

Thanks for all your great answers! For your info (if it helps you answer) I am under the age of 14, so if it helps you with your answers at all... I mean those ideas are great but I'm not sure if I should go for a two-mile run just yet.

Got a bike? Start peddling. You need strong, strong legs. Do stretches and run, run, run. Hard on the knees no matter how old you are. Go for it! Good luck.

stretch your body first.
add ankle weights. low weight at first.
stand in one spot and move as if running to get your heart circulated and pumping.
never take off at a hard/fast run .
drink water.
good running shoes that fit your Arch's well
run slow then build up to faster.

i ran track in high school for 3 years when i ran i ran with a parachute on my back and that built up my calf muscles, or you can try walking on your toes to build them up... i did high jump and the anchor of the 440... and thats how i built myself up then the next year i did 100 yard dash and just doing the ghetto workouts built me up to run a 9.3 in the 100...

In the winter months, it is important to stay fit and keep sharp, not to kill yourself. Build your endurance and stay lean by going on 2 to 4 mile runs three to five times a week.
