1) Look for whatever it is you want to buy..... usually it's quicker to type it into the Search bar rather than through the categories.
2) Pick an auction you like the look of
3) Decide the maximum amount you are willing to bid for that item (Not forgetting to factor in the price of Postage & packing)
4) Place your best bid on the item, if you're lucky it won't get beaten by anyone who placed a higher bid earlier...... if so, increase your bid as far as you're willing to go on that item.
5) Monitor the auction until it finishes to make sure you haven't been outbid by someone else.
6) At the end of the auction, you'll be notified by e-mail as to whether or not you won.

i was like you until a few months ago and now i use it regularly to buy items .
as has been said ,use the search option in buy and then toggle down until you see something you fancy and then just click bid ,watch out for the pay options in case its only paypal and remember the postage .
if you are successful and win a bid its easy just a few buttons to click and your away .
all this is assuming that you have already set up a ebay user acccount if not thats easy as well ,just follow the instructions .
good luck and dont afraid its not as bad as it 1st seems and im sure the seller will help you if u win and are not sure what to do .

not quite sure where you are going wrong but i'll try to help.
Type in the search box what you'd like
ie: trainers nike size 7
a list will appear
look down the list and find a pair you like as they are in order of auction ending time(you can change this if you like by clicking on price near the top of the page)
click on it , view the details and the CURRENT bid will also be there. Remember to view the p&p as some sellers do have then quite high.
Bid if you like it and away you go.

You have to sign up to ebay, before you can bid, or sell anything on ebay. Click on the link, where it says to sign up, give them a users name, and a password. Then select the item you want to bid on, and if you are the high bidder, you win. The seller will then notify you, and ask you how you want to pay. Some sellers only accept paypal, but most will accept a credit card. Good Luck..Happy Bidding!!
