It seems that you cannot please people when it comes to Christmas. I work in a small retail store that sells fine jewelry and gifts as well as accessories. Lately we have been getting Christmas returns. The store policy is exchanges only. It just seems that people cannot be pleased with the gifts they receive. I could understand if they got clothes that didn't fit but be happy with your gift. If I get something I don't like I politely smile and say thank you. I would never think of saying "It's not me, can I have the receipt". Some people really go out of their way to try make people happy and can't. I am not a religious person but Christmas has just turned ito this commercial fiasco where people run around trying to please people with expensive gifts that they end up hating anyway.

I totally agree. I bought my friend a box of very expensive fudge on the last day of work. It came with a little note saying, "Merry Christmas!" and everything. I went home early that day, and said goodbye to everyone. My brother works across the street from where I do, and when he got home, he said that he saw my "friend" giving my present away to someone else! How unappreciative can someone be!? I think people need to stop trying so hard to find the perfect gift, and just spend the holiday at home with their families. Christmas isn't about gifts at all, so people need to stop shopping and wasting all their money. Just cook a big dinner and spend time watching Christmas shows with their spouse and children (if they have any).

Yes, that's true, Christmas has unfortunately been commercialized. I celebrate Christmas by remembering the birth of Jesus the Christ, our Savior.
The reason we exchange gifts is because the wise men brought gifts to Jesus.

If you're not sure what gift someone will enjoy, then gift certificates are a wonderful solution!

Well it sounds like people has lost the true meaning of Christmas and identify it with the gifts. Its a shame, but I hope that the gift givers realize that with gift giving, you can please of of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

well thats true, you can't please people with christmas gifts. have you ever noticed that when you buy a gift for someone, you are actualy buying the gift for yourself? you don't really know waht the other person woudl like, so instead of it being the thought that counts, or the Christmas spirit, rather, it's this gift sucks, it her taste, not mine, why would she buy that for me?
My advice is, give gift certficates or cash. and really think about what the other person likes, not what you would like to receive.
