On TCM, they're going to be showing a movie called "Coffy" and it's about a black woman who fights crime and stuff. It looked really cool and stuff. I was looking the movie up on the internet and I saw it's rated R. I've seen rated "R" movies before like Mel Gibson's The Patriot and other movies sorta like that before.

But I just wanted everybody's opinion on how old is too young to watch a rated R movie. Btw, I'm 14.
Also, if anybody has seen "Coffy" before, please tell me what you thought about it and why.

i think it depends on your maturity, for some people its younger than other people. you'll know your old enough if you dont giggle everytime someone says a cuss word or you see nudity, and you can handle it in a mature way.

A generation ago (20-25 years) I would say a rated R movie would be too freaky for a 14 year old. But today, a 14 year old sees more horrifying things in the news and on the streets and even on cable TV. So I would say you are old enough for a rated R movie.
I just had a daughter, and I would let her watch rated R movie with me when shes 14.

It really depends on the child and there level of maturity and also why the movie is given an R rating. Some are given R ratings because of the level of violence and some for sexual situations...others simply for the amount of bad language. It should really be left up to the child's parent to decide if they are allowed to watch movies that have an R rating.

I easily have 3 youngsters, 7, 5 and four and that i in no way watch television even as they're unsleeping. If i favor to visual demonstrate unit an R rated action picture or any practice i imagine isn't ideal for them, I wait till they're in mattress or at a time even as they don't look to be abode (it truly is uncommon, so its frequently when they're in mattress). They bypass to mattress early (7pm) so its not an challenge. i don't believe of i might want to be able to sit and watch a movie in the course of the day wehn they're unsleeping anyhow, I easily have too a lot to do!

The laws say that R rated is 18+ and you shouldnt be watching it unless your 18. You cant watch or rent and R movie at the cinemas/video shop without id and proof that your 18.
Some people do watch R movies before their 18, it just depend on if you can watch violent things and not be scared and can watch things with 'adult content' and not be disturbed. It really depends how mature you are.

Depends on the person, but i personally think that under 11 is tto young, but from there it really depends on the person.

If it is on tv, parts of it are probably cut out and it isn't actually all the R content. Go by the TV rating instead of the movie rating, it will give you a better overview.

I would ask your parents if they think you are okay to watch it. Even in the theatres, you have to be accompanied by an adult.

I watched the movie when it came out and I was around 17 or 18 but I really don't remember all the details. Since it dates back to 1976, it's alot different than today's movies.

An R rated movie is for ages 18 and over due to the amount of violence, sexual situations, cursing, or a combination of those. If you're not sure, suggest that your parents or another adult that you know watch the movie first and decide if it's okay for you to see.

In the U.S. you have to be 17 or older to see rated R movies , but if you are under age , you have to bring a adult with you to get in.
