I don't get affected by makeup any more, but when I was younger, eyeliner did it for me. The one that goes under your eyes. I used to like girls who wear a little makeup, or no makeup at all. (And I'm one of those men who can REALLY tell if you are wearing makeup or not. I remember a friend of mine boasting that she's not wearing any makeup and I pointed out... I won't tell the rest.)

;-)

Well! I'm sort of confused with what you're asking. If you're talking about in general, which of the 5 choices tends to work the best, then I'd say mascara or eyeliner. They last the longest. It also depends on who's applying it. ☺

If you're talking about what are the best brands for each type of makeup, I find that more expensive doesn't always mean it's better. This type of question would also depend on who's applying it.. :P

Although! I find that for mascara, the tride and true Maybelline "Great Lash" is the best. It's the kind in the pink and green bottle.

Eyeliner I don't usually use. Foundation depends on skin type. I like L'Oreal HiP eyeshadow.

I tend to not use lip gloss, but rather petroleum jelly. It's very shiny like lip gloss and acts as a moisturizer as well. It's cheap and doesn't taste or smell bad.

Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals works very well, at least it does for me. The foundation doesn't clog your pores, it has an SPF15, you control the coverage.
They also make eye color, eye liner, lip liner, lip gloss, lipstick. The eye color and liner are loose so you can mix colors to make your own.
If you're near a Bare Escentuals boutique or Sephora stop in and check it out. Both carry a starter kit that is $60-75. It has 2 foundation shades, warmth, mineral veil, 3 brushes, instructional DVD and Bare Vitamins skin rever-upper.
Give it a try you have nothing to lose except time.
Good luck!!

Well as in each kind, for my mascara and foundation I like clinique. Their mascara is not to thick and it won't clump but always looks great. Lip gloss, i like anything that isn't too sticky. And eyeshadow and eyeliner i like the ones that are specifically for your eye color from Almay.

Good question, but kind of vague. It depends on what "look" you're going for. Are you the Gwen Stefani/Christina Aguilera type? Are you the Jessica Simpson/Lindsay Lohan type? The Kelly Osbourne/Amy Lee type? The Pamela Anderson/Carmen Electra type?
If you want to keep your ruby red lips, ruby all day long without constantly reapplying because you leave your trademark kiss stain on mugs, glasses and silverware all over town, then you'll need a lipstick with performance power. I suggest Revlon ColorStay. Now when a new idea for a cosmetic comes out, all the other make up companies soon copy the hot new product. So feel free to try your own brand of choice for a long lasting lipstick or gloss.
If you want the smokey eye look, you'll need an eyeshadow not prone to creasing and you'll also need a liner pencil with a smooth formula.
I think the makeup at department stores dished out by those lab coat wearing cheerleaders is a waste of good money. Walmart is a good place to shop for all the brands at reasonable prices. They also sell L'Oreal, which is made by Clinique or Estee Lauder, I forget, but sometimes even L'Oreal is too pricey for me. Try drugstores like CVS for an inexpensive but fun brand called Milani. Are you familiar with Dollar Tree stores? I have even found cosmetics there of the L'Oreal, Maybelline, & Revlon brand.
I have tried NYC make up and it sucks, so don't waste your time or money on that crap. I have makeup of every brand and every price. I have lip gloss that I love that cost me only a buck, and I have tried Almay's new eyeshadow specifically formulated according to your eye color and I love it.
When it comes to foundation, that's really important. It depends on how much coverage you need and what type of skin you have. If you're oily, but just need light coverage to even out your skin tone, buy an oil-free foundation offering light coverage. Finish off with a light dusting of translucent powder. If you are oily but need to camouflage a few things like me, I love Covergirl's Ultimate Finish liquid powder makeup. You get everything done in one easy step. You apply it with the sponge applicator that comes with it and after you're done, it leaves a nice velvety finish on your skin. No need for powder. If you have dry skin, they do have foundations specifically formulated for that also. There's a foundation out there for everyone. *A tip for getting the most smooth and bump-free finish...exfoliate your skin once or twice a month. A great one to try, St. Ives apricot scrub. It really gets down in those pores and leaves your skin as soft as a baby's rump.
Bottom line, It's not really about the brand or price, but how the product performs. Read the packaging to see if it will do what you need it to do.
