You don't need a degree specifically in "sports" journalism. Just go to a university with a strong program of Journalism and get a degree there. Be sure to write for the sports section of the campus newspaper or doing sports on the campus news broadcasts. Having the broad-based journalism degree would add legitimacy to your resume.

Indiana University
(top school of journalism).
Alumns: Dick Enberg (CBS Sports), Jane Pauley (NBC News)

Newhouse School of Journalism at Syracuse is great for sports journalism. They have a who's who list of famous journalists graduating from there, including Bob Costas.

North Carolina is good.
Columbia is a great journalism school.
The Fiske Guide to colleges has a list of the strongest Journalism programs.
