Anisole is methyl Benzyl ether. CH30C6H5 or correctly called as methoxy benzene. Its formed out of the reaction between o alkyalation of o-cresol.
The significance of the anisole is its reaction with P4S10 forms the lawesson's reagent which forms a major chemical in the phosphorus and sulphur industry
