it doesnt matter how much they spend or how many games they lose (or win).

The Cubs will ALWAYS be Chicago's team and that is why their southside crybaby neighbors, the whinny sux are so jealous.

Since i am a cubs fan, i say that yeah they are buying better talent to try to get into the W.S. With Soriano, Lidle, Lilly, and veterans like Wood, Prior, Lee, Ramirez, and a few others, you see my point. But no they are not going to spend $80 billion. They don't make that much in ticket sales.

THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR

Last year they only had 3 guys who played 150 or more games (5 guys who played 144 or more games). Everyone else was part-time... Ramirez was far and away their best player. Superstar caliber. After that, it was downhill. Same with pitching... Zambrano was their best pitcher and another big gap after him. You're right. They need a new lineup, especially with guys that can play a whole season for them. There aren't enough quality free-agents left for them to stock-pile on. This team isn't going anywhere for a while no matter how much money they spend...

As far as the cute wittle cubbies are concerned the world series is not for sale. no matter how much they spend they are still just the cute wittle adorable cubbies. Going to wiggly field never had anything to do with baseball. we might see jen and ben there or bill murray might show up drunk, and we get to sing take me out to the ball game led by some one that should be shot for ever stepping in front of a microphone. oh wont it be fun.
Oh is there a game going on to.
Completely
Useless
By the
Second inning.

Yes. They are frustrated that everyone's been to the World Series in recent years. Time will only tell if it works.

They're stocking the team before the Tribune sells it. If they can get a decent product on the field (even if it costs $120 mil), the Chicago Tribune can get maximum profit for the team.

Well, they are not doing anything that any other MLB team isn't doing. At least they are showing an attempt to get quality free agents and improve their team.
