I think it was yet another blunder of the US by not taking into account the religios holiday. we could have avoided a lot of unnesassary tensions by waiting till after EID.

So yet again they have made things worse. for america, for the world and especially for the soldiers they so easily send over there to do their dirty work in this illegal war.

Yo, Earth to Numb-Nuts, Earth to Numb-Nuts - it was the Iraqi Shias that hanged that cheeseball and, last time I checked, they're not exactly observant when it comes to Sunni holidays, religious or otherwise. (You DO know all this, right?)

Ya gotta get yer hed in the game, don'tcha just know it?

I would just like to say that the way the trial and execution went down, it was an insult to all Muslims and Arabs... It was just a big slap to All Muslims and Arabs... They could have waited a couple of days till Eid was over. What a way to commemorate
the blessed month.
Doesn’t countries like the US and UK complain about countries like Saudi Arabia where execution is carried out? So, why now approve and condone Saddam’s
Isn’t ‘capital punishment’ against the Western world’s principles? Against Human Rights? Doesn’t America promise democracy to Iraq and at the same time backs a ‘puppet’ government that approves execution? Are we seeing the US’s double standards again?
Whatever Saddam did or did not do, i think what is going on now– all the killings, rape, torture, and the crazy civil war is far worse and that stability, even if under a tyrant, is much better, but i guess it is too late to bring back Saddam Hussein..
Saddam may have been a dictator, killing innocent people, but one shouldn’t not but one shouldn’t not follow his lead, we shouldn’t be as cruel as he is. Executing him on such an auspicious day is not right, nor is it right to dance on the street rejoicing his death. We should instead look at it in a different way, a reminder to all of us that God will punish us, no matter how powerful or powerless we are. We should not stoop so low.
The trial and the way the execution was performed was an insult to all Iraqis and Arabs.

Saddam was a secular leader of a secular nation, he clamped down hard , his baath party was strictly secular. Even though the population was mainly Muslim they were severely curtailed in their religious observances and practices Remember when Bin laden was fighting with (instead of against) us, he offered to take out Saddam for that reason. Saddam only got religion and started waving the Koran around at his trail, looking for sympathy from religious groups. (typical politician) Saddam was an enemy of Islam and an EID execution is a gift to Muslims everywhere. And who said Bush ain't a nice guy.

You can not just turn your head an let people get away with the thing's he an there other are doing. The same thing here you have people here that kill an do really bad thing's to other people. An just get a pat on the hand. No one has the respect for other people now. They let there kid's do what ever they want. I SAY IF YOU DO SOME THING REAL BAD LIKE KILL SOME ONE JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THEM FOR YOU ARE JUST EVIL I SAY WE NEED TO HANG YOU TOO!!

They did not kill Saddam on EID if you se the video footage then u can see that they they put the rope over his head at 11:52 pm Iraqi time (GMT +03:00). They might have hung him before 11:57pm.

I think we managed to beat EID by 24 hours, actually.

But I agree that waiting until January 14 would have been better.

The US didn't pick the day - the Iraqis did.

I am certain that they are aware of when their own religious holidays are. Perhaps they wanted to give their people something to celebrate over the holiday.

It wasn't the US' call. The Iraqi government.

But Saddam probably couldn't be happier daying on a such a holy day.

-------------------------
Oh sorry, that is what you meant.Yeh, i guess, out of the 365 days, they had to pick the Eid day. It would have been better another day. But i guess, he was the lamb for Eid. :P

Great minds think alike, I was penning my question obviously at the same time you were. Isn't it funny that the paucity of education and the non-chalance and frankly idiocy of many Americans, Bushco and his ilk keep getting away with putting all our lives at risk.
