If your tank is large enough...over 50gallons....a few tin foil barbs will be aggressive enough and provide some active companionship for your goldfish.Another choice would be to get him/her a few friends of the same make and model so to speak at around the same size. Many fish stores will sell larger fish that may match your current one.If they are the same size the aggression should taper off after they are territorial for awhile...try to add them to the new tank all at the same time. This will eliminate any possible ownership of the new space.

A cool water loach like a dojo loach might be safe. Goldfish usually leave plecos alone, but plecos don't have much personality. If I were you, I'd go with another goldfish or two depending on the size of your aquarium. Stay away from most tropical fish, and make sure all the fish still have more room to grow.

More large goldfish, because small goldfish will get eaten or attacked. Also you could get an algae eater, which is good for keeping the tank clean, although algae eaters tend to be aggressive and get very big really quickly.

I kept a couple of pictus catfish with my one goldfish I had. I have seen tanks with a mix of goldfishes, fancy golds they called them. If your goldfish is big and aggressive you might be stuck with just him in the tank. But introducing another big goldfish or some large catfish could work if they are already in the new tank BEFORE you add your goldfish! There may be a bit of "jockeying" for who is top fish, but your goldfish would be last fish in, pecking order should change from that treatment.
Good luck!

You can place many different kinds of fish with your goldfish. However, I would stay away from putting smaller fish with him, because it would be hard for them to compete for food.
Goldfish also need a higher water temperature than tropical fish so I would stay away getting any tropical fish that need higher temperatures.
Your best bet is to get a Dojo (likes to hide under rocks or in plants) and some rubber nose Plecos. You could also get some different varieties of goldfish to add some variety to your tank.
You might also want to look into angel fish. You would need to get about 6 of these fish. It is important to get about 6, because they often compete for food and a larger quantity helps them not to compete as much.
You can also add some snails and algae sucking fish to help keep your tank clean!

you may positioned goldfish in a tropical tank, in the event that they're sized to be nicely matched with the present inhabitants. The goldfish will consume each and all of the floating duckweed and Riccia in case you want to do away with it from a planted tank or any tank. They in the previous each and every thing will bypass away maximum stay rooted flowers on my own, in case you have 2 - 3" goldfish, yet they are going to strengthen over 2 to 3 months till they start being a pest in this regard. and that's high-quality, as a results of fact after 2 or 3 months in a tropical tank, goldfish would desire to bypass homestead. they're like Northerners who want to trip interior the tropics, yet while the holiday is over, they're happy to bypass lower back. Even the flowers, the filters, and the tropical fish would be happy to make certain them bypass. usual filtration for a tropical fish tank would have been maxed out via that factor. The flowers will in the previous each and every thing take exhilaration in the beneficiant fertilizers the goldfish supply, yet then there will be a backlog of it. too lots of a sturdy difficulty would not sound extremely ideal as quickly as we are speaking approximately goldfish poop, yet once you check out it from the plant's attitude, it does extra wholesome. and it somewhat is subjective, even inspite of the shown fact that it variety of feels like the angelfish, the kribensis, the purple lizard catfish and others seem getting impatient with the vacationers striking around previous the season. The goldfish easily would desire to bypass lower back to their own variety of tank, nutrition, and temperatures. Fish meals low or without fish meal, and in line with risk extreme in wheat germ will help shop their digestive systems on aim. additionally they are going to take exhilaration in the absence of gravel, and the feedings of duckweed, Najas, hair algae, and stay daphnia which you improve for them. you probably would not want to characteristic the 1st 3 on your tropical tank, and in case you upload daphnia the tropicals could probably be first in line and deprive the goldfish of extra advantageous than a pattern.

rule of thumb...don't put fast fish in with slow moving fish and try to keep the size of the fish close....don't put small in with large....
There are many types of Goldfish....I have an Oranda (large head), pearl scale (looks kind of like a bumpy golf ball), and the "average joe" (not really what they are called-I forgot the official name) goldfish together all slow moving compared to others and they are fine together.... .......

Any kind of middle sized fish who is a flake eater, not a territorial fish like a puffer or piranha. A couple of decent sized guppies would be alright.
