My tenant feels endangered by someone she signed a lease with and wants us to change the locks. The police reminded us that we cannot legally change the locks without the consent of everyone on the lease. I need to know how to word and agreement the other leasee(sp) can sign to voluntarily remove himself from the lease. It must be legally binding and protect us from a lawsuit. Thank You!

P.S. We live in Ontario

The 1st site below is a great resource. Make sure to change the State in which you live. The last site is a VERY affordable way to get access to your Legal Rights. Watch the online movie presentation. Hope this helps.

common sense would demand that if she feels threatened she leave NOW. Then come back and figure out the lease situation. If her partner does not want to abide by the rules she can get a judge to force a dissolution of the lease in her or her partner's favor. She may need to pay for rent for several months until this is done.

Eliminate all that and evict the unwanted tenant.
