I can easily beat off puppet Zelda and the first stage of the beast Ganon, but after that when the arrows have no effect I don't know how to beat him, I go to wolf form and midna says I need to counter attack... I tried many times and I'm still lost as to what to do any help? do i need all the sword techniques? i only have 4...

To beat his beast form when you shoot him with a arrow and he goes above you turn into a wolf and when he runs at you you push A at the right time and you grab and toss him (like when you stop the rock people from rolling on you *cant remember name sorry*)
His last form (his true self) just do the long sword battle. The moves you learn throughout the game are not needed on him but help alot.

The beast Ganon is quit easy, ok after you hit with the arrows Minda will say turn into doggy form. So you do, now when he is charging at you lock onto him and right when he gets close to you hit and hold down A. You should see something that pops up and says "Hit A". Mida will use her magic arm and toss him on his side, then just attack the scar on his stomach.

You can't save after most all Zelda games. The latest you can save is before the final fight (which in some zelda games is a sequence of fights).

I'm not there myself so I sadly can't offer much advice but I have heard that if you take out the fishing rod he'll sit there and gawk at the bobber leaving him open to attacks.
I'm not sure if this will work at the stage of the battle that you're in though.

he will charge and you will have to stop and throw him like the goat you had to stop from fleeing in Ordon Village.
