Well, I am a female with one sister and my dad told me recently that he always wanted a son. OUCH!

Here was mom's shining moment: She begged and begged me & my sister for grandkids for years. We waited a long time but now have 3 each. When complaining recently about my request for her to watch my kids so my husband and I could have a night out she proclaimed that she had already raised her kids (funny but I remember a lot of time at MY grandparents house) and that she didn't know she never asked for 6 grandkids!

And for those of you who think I abuse the grandparents as sitters, I can count on one hand the number of times my father has watched them in 11 years and on two hands the number of times my mother has. Husbands parents are out of the country. We would like a break sometimes. Not to mention the fact that I want my kids to grow up knowing their grandparents. Though sometimes I do have to ask myself WHY I want that!

My great grandma once....
She told me to never trust a man named Ben. lol
I don't know why. I was like 8 when I heard her say it the 1st time. She was really old and about once a year she would say it. Now I wish I would have thought to ask her why.

in response to the nurse asking about my Dad's health...

"Do you smoke?"

"No"

"did you ever?"

"Well, a little wacky tobaccy back in the day..."

and then mom and dad look at me to see my reaction with an excited look on their faces, in which i reply in front of the nurse...

"What? You told me that years ago when you were drunk, Dad."

This Christmas I think my mom eluded to me that my dad might not be my birth father. I can honestly say, I have always thought that might be true.

Do as I say, not as I do--then why do they do it? I am all grown up now and still do not know.
