fender because squire is a model of fender...although when someone says fender, usually they mean a fender strat because that is what they are known for so it may be misleading. Although you do have a fender....

You can say strat because its so common just like people say I have a les paul. There aren't really any specific rules of engagement, just assumptions. If you say fender, meaning a squire but the person was assuming you were talking about a strat, the most they would say is "oh ok". lol I suppose it doesn't matter all that much...

P.S. Girls with guitars are hott!

I would personaly just say a strat. Most people whan talking about a guitar identify them with model not maker if it is an indepth conversation then identify it as a squire because it is a squire they are the producer of the instrument even though squire is owned by fender it is made by squire. It is not that imprtant un less you are talking spacifics of what materials are used and where it is made etc. It is first and formost a Stratocaster that identifies the pickup configuration, look, and general tone. Most people are fine knowing that.

After years of owning a Fender Strat, I have a Squire myself. I'm VERY much aware of the difference between the two instruments, so I'm pretty careful to refer to my current guitar as a Squire.

I have been given a Fender Jazz Baz with a geared up in pics equalizer. I say you pass actual to the precise and get a great Fender or get a Gibson bass with the aid of fact why no longer learn on something advantageous? You choose for 2d fee boyfriends? Do you consume hamburger once you could choose for steak ? Are you going to apply margarine once you would be employing butter? in case you do no longer choose for to spend alot of money I advise you be on the lok out for a good used Gibson, Gretch, Fender.

Squier.

The only similarities between Squier and Fender is the shape. Everything else is different.
