They aren't that different, really ... I think it depends on where you go in Ireland. More rural areas have a different lifestyle to those of the cities, and people tend to be a little more conservative.
Also, I think that, because divorce is quite a recent thing here, that may make things different to say, the American woman's lot. You should look into Irish women and the family and divorce.

I'm an Irish women, and our lives aren't that different, we go to school, study, get a job, travel, marry, kids... need I go on. If you're referring to the past then maybe they were different to others but only in the fact that Ireland had very poverty stricken times in the past 30 years.... not unlike other countries.... Sorry.... the answer to your question is they're not.
