If you don't cry at films then don't try to force it. Some women are just not bawlers. And if you don't scare easily, then don't go looking for disturbing material to prove you have a weakness.

Goodnight Mister Tom, with John Thaw is a weepie, watched it twice and cried both times. They are re-running it on a Freeview channel but can't remember what one.
As for a scary film, anything if you are in the house alone at night....even the old Hammer ones.
I don't think the Exorcist was actually scary.

I have never cried over a movie as much as I cried over "Notebook". This is the best movie I have seen in years.
I can't really reccomend a scary movie, as I truly don't like to be scared.
As for having a brick where your heart should be; from personal experience, I would wager that you have, instead, a wall around it. For protection. Add a door.
Good luck to you.

Jomo...my spiritual advisor knows no fear. The concept of fear is simply not part of his emotional vocabulary. Such people don't scare easily...or at all. It doesn't make him abnormal any more than it makes you.
That said...a movie that almost...and i say almost...brought himto tears...was Grave of the Fireflies...japanese animation by Ghibli Studios. two children...a brother and sister...find themselves homeless during the time of the Allied bombing of japan during WW II. This is a film that affected me deeply.
For films I suggest Meet John Doe...Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck star...and I weep when i see it...for it is of an America that would have been...that should have been...and never will be...
For books I suggest...Bastard out a Carolina by Dorothy Allison.
brutal in its subtext...and in its inevitability of the events that will cometopass...that I kept hoping all throughout its reading... would not come to pass..
I pass these on to you..not to bring you to tears...but in the hope that you will find moments of worth...time well spent...in the pages...and on the reels of film...that transcend media.
Peace and blesings be upon you and yours this holiday season.

I don't get scared at horrors either, but Blair witch project bored me to tears, so maybe you could combine the 2.
But for weepies i defy anyone not to cry at Song for a Raggy Boy staring Aiden Quinn. Fabulous film if you can get it.

Snakes on a Plane will scare just about anyone, or at least creep you out.
You could also try going to see Basic Instinct 2, then when it is over, ask the theater to give you your money back. If they don't, you will cry.
