Hi. Here're a few things you can do:
1) search your coins using web search engines
2) visit your local library and look for "Standard Catalogue of World Coins"(the size of a phone directory), and for US coins, look for "The Red Book, Unites States Coins"(about the size of a novel).
3) visit www.cointalk.org forum and post your questions there.
4) snap images of your coins, upload to "imageshack.us" and link them to this Yahoo Answers.
5) show your coins to a numismatist, or to a coin dealer. But don't rush into selling any coins, especially to the latter.

Good luck.

I have found that libraries often have very good coin pricing books that you can check out. You can also go to reputable book stores and find up to date pricing guides. On the internet you can go to the following site: http://www.pcgs.com/prices/ to research coins from your collection. Happy hunting.
