I'm hoping to Vax my carpets tomorrow. Could anyone tell whether the Vax will suck all the fluid out of my carpet or whether I need to leave the carpet to dry. If so, how long should it take? The Vax we are using was only purchased last year.

The brand name of my vacuum is Vax. If that's what you are using, it's not meant to suck up liquid.

If your carpet was recently cleaned, it should only take about 24-36 hours to dry fully.

If you've had a flood, you may need to have a professional come in to suck up all the water, depending on how wet it is. Shop vacs can usually be used to suck up water.

We had a vax some time agoHave a washing up bowl nearby as it might drip before you get started or when you switch off; hard work but good results. It took quite a while to dry - several hours and wasn't really dry til the next day. Might take a while at this time of year, and if you are in the UK you won't be able to leave windows open cos of the expected gales. You could turn the heating up high. Good luck.

Your better doing one room at a time. Carpets will be damp. Vax acts like a washing machine. Turn heating on and leave carpet to dry. Takes about 1 to 2 hours. regards...

Good Luck, i cant get on with the Vax, it does leave carpets damp and they will take a lot of drying out, i also find that the carpets with a good pile will dry quite crispy so you will need to hoover them once they are dry to seperate the fibres. Steam cleaners are better, i personally think.

We have a vax carpet washer, and it does leave the carpet a bit damp, if the heating is on it should dry overnight. Hope this helps.

I used one on some carpet tiles in an office. They were quite damp when i had finished. The next day, all the tiles were sticking up and bubbled and looked weird, but eventually went down. They took a few days to dry. Make sure you let plenty of air in, as my office turned a bit sour.

yes it will be wet the trick with carpet cleaning is dont spray to much water on it, if there is a stain treat it with stain remover first if the stain doe's not disappear after a couple of spray's it is there for good. don't over soak the carpet and keep going over it with the suction only until very little water is going in the tank. also check that your carpet can be wet cleaned, if it has a high content of wool in it, it may shrink.

The carpet will remain slightly damp and will take a day to dry.

Just had mine done by a professional, who used the same kind of machine. It took nearly 24 hours to completely dry, though it was OK to walk on straight away.
