ok i was just watching a movie and at the very end it showed that there was a dead guy on the moon in a space suit
now the question here is if the guy would decompose.
theres no bacteria or air so would he just be well perserved on the moon? and the next person to walk on the moon would just find a dead guy?

if you can help thank you...im just curious!

It could happen a couple ways.

1. Suit stays sealed - The body would still decompose, the human body carries it's own bacteria.

2. Suit not sealed - Body would be mummified.

3. And maybe if the suit had a very slow leak it would decompose to a point then be mummified.

lol

Bacterias exist in our own organism and they could start decomposition, depending on the balance of gases and resources into the space suit.
Another parameter to take into account is temperature. In the shadow the body would be frozen, then stopping most of the biological processes. In the sun and without the spacesuit air conditioning it could be very hot inside, thus speeding up some biological and chemical processes.
If the space suit was damaged and not air tight, then all the gases would disperse into the moon vacuum. The body would not decompose as it would be practically dry and mummified.

Since your space suit wouldn't hold air forever, I think you would end up freeze dried. Eventually the pressure in the suit would drop to zero, and the water in your body would evaporate due to the low pressure. This is exactly how they make freeze dried coffee. Well, not on the moon of course.

You would end up a shriveled up dessicated husk. The bacteria in your guts would work on you for a while until the pressure dropped and they froze/dehydrated.

I would think that the body would decompose since a great deal of bacteria is present in the body's digestive system.

yea, there is nothing to decompose him on the moon's surface, but there is definitly bacteria and microorganisms that could decompose him in his spacesuit. It would probably take a lot longer to decompose him, because there are less bacteria, but he would gradually decompose.

It is very cold in space the body would freeze, so yes,the next guy would find him, probably bring him back for a proper funeral
