I don't know how they are formed or why they have a circular shape. The only thing I know is that some of them are very, very, very complex and I don't think anyone would be able to make them using rope and boards.

I think crop circles are fascinating in terms of what they reveal about human nature. Some years after the crop circles first appeared, two guys came forward and admitted they were actually the ones who did it. (Everybody loves notoriety, I guess.) They then told everyone how they did it and what tools they used, and even did demonstrations on other fields.
Now, you'd think this would close the books on crop circles, but nope, you still got folks out there claiming aliens did it. Why kill a good conspiracy theory?

People make crop circles. They do it from the ground.
They are circles because circles are easy to make in the dark with a rope.

They are most likely formed from Dink and Dumb-***, who spend their nights with two-by-fours strapped to their feet. I their attempts of stupefying people with a non-sense notion that aliens are marking our crops with various symbols, to either communicate, or maybe even target our planet for destruction, or perhaps worse, decolonization. Yikes, what a scary notion, so glad you asked.

Neither. They are easy to create with a length of rope and a board. We have videos of people doing it and confessions from the people who make them. Why assume the supernatural when we have a perfectly valid natural explanation?
