I think that what you felt is a normal compassionate human reaction.
It is a terrible thing to see regardless of the circumstances that led to this result.
Did he deserve what happened to him? I believe he did.
Was I happy or jubilant to see him go to his death? No, not really.
I didnt get joy from it, rather a deep sadness that things like this happen in the world. Spritually I think we are all connected , no matter who we are, and thats why we feel a certain sadness regarding a situation such as this.

I didn't see the video. I'm no big fan of the death penalty. But in Saddam's case, it was a trial by Iraqis against an Iraqi who killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Saddam killed enough Kurds alone to match the population of St Louis Mo. So instead of thinking that you're crying for Saddam. Think of it as you're crying for the 1/2 a million people he killed with chemical weapons, women and children were not spared.

I, too, thought it was very sad. I know the man deserved to die for the horrible crimes he committed against his own countrymen, but to actually see someone preparing to die is a reality check that I could do without. I think what bothered me most is knowing that he died because we invaded his country under the false pretense of finding weapons of mass destruction, then hunted him down like a dog and all because our President was still fuming over Saddam trying to kill his father and the simple fact that we want their oil and want to rule the world!

i havent seen the video, nor will i.but i understand ur feelings.he was, yes,a terrible person who did terrible things.yet,as a feeling, thinking, and kind hearted person-u and i and many others, could not help but be disturbed .we are sympathetic,so we imagined ourselves going thru that and it was awful.it speaks to the goodness of our own hearts, that we could feel for his suffering even tho we did not condone his violent actions.if u laughed,or felt nothing-that would be scary.that u had sympathy for a fellow human being, means simply that u excercised ur own humanity in a way saddam seldom did,and that is commendable.even if the sufferer is bad,to witness his suffering, and to fail to be appalled or moved by the barbarity of his death, would mean u are as cold as he .this doesnt excuse his actions,it just means u are fully human ,and that is just what u should be !!!!

It is great to know there are people out there that have feelings, though I don't like what Saddam was about, I still would feel bad if I saw him executed. You have a good heart.

I haven't seen the hanging and I probably won't- about your feelings I say that its a human thing- you know what? I'm' asking myself why they had to hang him on these special days? he was a bad person I know but hey he too has a family that must be grieving for him.

It's human to feel sad when someone is murdered, even someone like Saddam... Not sure why they get off on releasing such morbid things....

that is definitely a normal, human reaction which shows that you have a heart and conscience....what kind of person would take joy from seeing another person killed, no matter who it is? i don't plan on watching the video, i can't even look at the pictures of him with the noose around his neck...it's too sickening of a sight

I didn't watch it. That's just not something I care to watch regardless of who the person is or what all they did.

Your reaction wasn't bad, it was just being human.

His sentence and it being carried out didn't suprise me at all. From what I've heard, he took it like a man. Have a feeling he knew all along it was going to happen, and resigned himself to it.

Hope this answers your question.
