If your premise is indeed true it is because to have a black and white view of the world makes it much easier to understand. To attempt to understand and address gray areas is never easy. And oft times impossible to address adequately.

So black and white, as you say, draws a clearly stated line that is easy to know when action should be taken. Of course even for them often that hard line is not so easy to view.
