You can check "numismatic" in the search engine, under the particular language of the coin you are wanting to know about. You may need to be in a website for that particular language of the country to which the coin originates.

I know of the USA coins only but I hope I steered you in a direction that will help.

I never have found any. It would be a vast undertaking and have to be a real large site. Also a lot of books from ancient times through 1500's are out of print. I can go back as far as 1600 on world coins. I can go back even further on Oriental coins, such as BC China. I have guides on ancient Greek and Roman but am not too detailed in them. I collect mostly Oriental coins. A new book on Europe is coming out soon and it will list all dated coins in the AD system, so that should have some from the 1500's. There are lots of U.S. coin collectors as well as British. They is a large group through out the world that collect ancient Greek and Roman as well as other from that area. Books for these people are usually updated quite often. It seems medieval coins lack books and maybe collectors also. Also most people have a real hard time with Arabic writing so that stops people from collecting the older coins. Hope this helps some.
